British International Schools Qatar Games Teams

Message from the Principal

Welcome to the second BISQ Games. We are participating in a venue second to none in the world. The event is taking place in a country that is driving sporting excellence to new heights. We all know that the IAAF World Championships are taking place in November and that the World Cup is less than 4 years away. What better environment could there be for so many students to show their skills. This is a monumental opportunity for them to experience sporting competition in the most inspiring of venues.

The Olympic Games slogan ‘Faster, Higher, Stronger’ is apt for that event. Here, though, we are giving young people the opportunity to participate and to demonstrate to their families, their peers and themselves that they can achieve and get better. Winning is some measure of success. However, a better measure of achievement is the motivation and determination to take part and do the very best you can. Our slogan, if we had one, should be ‘take part, do your best, and get better next time’.

We promised that these Games would continue and get better. You will see the evidence of that improvement over the next few weeks. I want to thank all of our sponsors for their support; the Aspire Academy for allowing us the use of the magnificent facilities; the P.E. teachers from so many schools who have coached their teams and who have organized the event; and Mr. Tom Bell (Director of Sport) from Doha British School for continuing to drive the event forward.

Good luck everyone and just do your best.

Message from the BISQ GAMES Coordinator

Welcome to the British International Schools Qatar Games 2019!

A warm welcome to all the British International Schools Qatar (BISQ) Games competitors, teachers and supporting parents from around the country. This year marks the second anniversary of the BISQ Games and looks set to be more competitive, prestigious, and memorable for all those involved.

BISQ 2019 is set to be the largest student sporting event in Qatar, and proudly held again in the prestigious Aspire Dome. The games will provide school competitors with not only a unique opportunity to compete in world class sporting facilities; but also celebrate the unique and collaborative community approach of British schools in Qatar, proudly brought together through the shared passion of sport.

Organising a large tournament of this size and managing the logistics has been a challenge. It would not have been possible without the support, experience, and commitment from members of each PE departments across the country, whose professionalism has been outstanding. Credit goes to those specialised and committed teachers. I would also like to thank all the sponsors and the Aspire Logistics team for their contribution.

I have no doubt that the BISQ Games will be an incredibly memorable experience for all those attending and behalf of all the schools, I wish all the competitors the best of luck!
